  • They can participate in research programs, apply for teaching positions, or establish their own private dentistry practice.
  • Dentists rank among the best paid professionals, especially in English-speaking countries e.g. the USA, UK and Canada, where there is a lack of graduates, especially in rural areas.
  • The average dentist in the USA earns no less than $149,000 annually (£84,103).
  • Renowned dentists in the UK make up to £110,000 a year (€128,600).
  • In Canada, dentistry professionals are paid more than $150,000 per year (£81,760).
+Fees - Costs
  • While the salary prospects for dentists are excellent, the financial investment for dentistry studies, (including tuition and living expenses in popular destinations such as the UK and Canada) is extremely high, even for families where their income is well above average.
  • UK undergraduate programs cost more than £9,000 (€10,500) per year.
  • In Canada, dental school fees cost no less than $16,900 (£9,235) per year, making it the most expensive place to study dentistry in the world.
  • Many students make the decision to study dentistry abroad for this reason.
  • Eastern Europe (particularly Bulgaria and Romania), offers quality education that rivals that of universities in the aforementioned countries, but at a third or less of annual expenditures by comparison.
+Universities
  • Bulgarian and Romanian universities are attractive options for students who want to study dentistry in Europe in English and are among the best in the world.
  • They offer entrance-free undergraduate dentistry courses so long as students meet certain criteria, or offer students the opportunity to take a preparatory course to do so.
  • Graduates are entitled to specialise and work in any EU country and numerous other foreign countries by way of bi-lateral treaties between Romania and Bulgaria with countries such as India and China, to name but a few.
  • Degrees obtained from these institutions are acknowledged globally, ranking highly in international databases and directories.
  • Listings include the World Health Organization (WHO), the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) and many more.
  • Dentistry students who want to transfer to a Bulgarian or Romanian university can do so via the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
