+The 4-Year Medicine Programme
- The AUSOM 4-Year Medicine Programme qualifies students with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
- The programme is taught entirely in English with a structure of: Basic Sciences for 104 weeks, Introduction to Clinical Medicine for 6 weeks, and, Clinical Sciences for 72 weeks.
- Basic Sciences consists of two years of foundational knowledge development with theory subjects in: Molecular Basis of Medicine; Medical Ethics & Clinical Skills; Epidemiology & Biostatistics; Human, Structure & Function; Mind, Brain & Behaviour; EBM & ICR; Diseases, Immunity & Therapeutics; and, Introduction to Clinical Medicine.
- Clinical Sciences consists of 72 weeks of rotations in hospital settings under direct supervision comprising: Core Rotations for 48 weeks (Internal Medicine: 12 weeks, Surgery: 12 weeks, Pediatrics: 6 weeks, Family Medicine: 6 weeks, Psychiatry: 6 weeks, Obstetrics & Gynecology: 6 weeks); then, Elective Rotations for 24 weeks based on availability (Options include: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Emergency Medicine, Geriatrics, Anesthesiology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Gastroenterology).
- AUSOM clinical rotations integrate Basic Sciences with clinical practice through practical training in ACGME-approved teaching U.S. and Caribbean teaching hospitals.
- Programme intakes occur three times per annum (January, May, and September) with no entry exams for students.
