What was the Application like?The online application process was very simple for William, he says “The website I used was very easy and straightforward to follow, I contact a local manager from SME who told me all the relevant information”
What was it like arriving at your new city and getting set up?SME looked after all students on arrival to Bulgaria, William states that “When I arrived at Sofia there was an SME coach waiting to pick us up and took us to a hotel. SME actually paid for the first night”
What do you enjoy about studying in Plovdiv?William has got a great opportunity to explore a new place “Living in Plovdiv is a little bit different to living in other parts of the world but its really a great place”
What is your favourite thing about your programme?
Being able to study medicine has been Williams favourite part of the programme “The best part of the experience for me is just the fact that I’m actually studying medicine and that I’m finally a medical student which makes me really happy”.
How did you find out about Studying Medicine in Bulgaria?
The relocation process was very timely, Sai says “After I got my letter of acceptance I was sent an email and I was told that I was part of a group and we would fly out to Sofia together.”
What stands out for you about studying at Plovdiv Medical University & studying medicine in Bulgaria?
Studying at Plovdiv has given Sai the opportunity to gain a Master degree where he would have only received a Bachelor’s degree had he not taken the opportunity to study at Plovdiv Medical University “I think that coming abroad to study medicine is a good idea, it’s a great experience and it actually means that I get a Masters degree rather than a Bachelor’s degree”
What was the relocation support for moving to study abroad in Europe like?
Suzie enjoyed the relocation experience, she says “I had a really good experience with SME. Initially, I was really scared to transition from Ireland to Bulgaria but they made it really easy.”
How did SME help you with moving from your home to your new city?
Getting set up in Plovdiv was a very quick process with the SME team setting up an itinerary for all students, Suzie says “On Monday morning SME brought all the students to the university to be officially registered, in the afternoon they brought us to the bank to open bank accounts and on Tuesday morning we met up with the estate agents again they showed us quite a few apartments and I actually found my current apartment on that same day”
How has SME helped you achieve your academic dream?
SME helped Suzie achieve her dream of studying medicine and she thinks you should take the opportunity too “If it’s your dream you should definitely go for it, there is a place for everyone here”
