+The 6-Year Medicine Programme
  • BTU qualifies graduates with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
  • This is a 6-year undergraduate programme.
  • The full-time programme is in English with two curriculum phases: ten academic semesters, and, then a year-long pre-graduation internship.
  • For Years 1-5, there are two semesters per year.
  • The five years of lectures, seminars, and practicals consist of: Anatomy, histology, embryology, pathology, Latin lan-guage, forensic medicine and deontology, physics, biophysics, roentgenology and radiology, physiology, patho-physiology, chemistry and biochemistry, biology, medical genetics, microbiology, medical parasitology, clinical labor-atory and immunology, internal diseases, pharmacology, paediatrics, social medicine, emergency medicine, com-puter technology, infectious diseases, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, epidemiology and tropical diseases, psy-chology, psychiatry and neurology, anaesthesiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, surgery, orthopaedics, traumatol-ogy, urology, neurosurgery, emergency and intensive medicine, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, dermatology and venereology, plus elective subjectives.
  • For Year 6, the final year, students complete a pre-graduation internship (52 weeks): Internal diseases; Surgery; Ob-stetrics and Gynaecology; Paediatrics, Hygiene, Epidemiology, Infectious diseases, Social Medicine; and, Emergen-cy Medicine, followed by the state examination session.
  • The clinical internship is studied in Bulgarian hospitals, medical clinics, and specialist settings.
  • BTU has one annual intake in October with entry exams in Biology and Chemistry and graduates hold international MD qualifications.

Applicants must submit the following documents:
  1. An application which includes the following details: bio, education history, and course for which you are applying.
  2. A copy of your secondary education results with subjects studied.
  3. Two small photos of 4-5cm.
  4. A personal statement.
  5. One to Two letters of recommendation.
