Student transfer to another university can be motivated for a number of different reasons. One of the main cause is the unaffordable cost of education at the present university and surely the high cost of living in the town or city where the current university is located. Also, the difficulty in adapting with the academic atmosphere, or the incapability to catch up with a demanding and thoroughly taught program.
Based on ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), most of medical finished at least one semester in any accredited medical university are eligible to be transferred to any Georgian medical university. Students must provide their official transcripts, which should include the course grades that will be accumulated with the training hours and credits for each course (ECTS).
As a international medical transfer student for placement in advanced year of the academic program, students have to follow the same admission in the same way as for the new students unless they have been studying in Georgia before. As international transfer students, their educational documents will be assessed by National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement then they will be evaluated individually by a committee of professors at the university who take into account various criteria. So it cannot be known in advance in which academic year they will be placed in.
Medical students with degrees in areas like nursing, healthcare, midwifery or dietetics, might avoid repeating the first year and possible even the second year at the Georgian Medical University if they have been trained with some basic courses relating to medical science, which they want to observe.
