Romanian Medical Universities are internationally accredited and are reputed for the quality of education and research opportunities they offer. The academic community in Romanian Universities is also renowned for innovations in the medical and dentistry fields, and for providing education that is committed to international excellence. All our partner Universities in Romania are listed in the most recognized international directories of medical schools, such as the WHO (World Health Organization), the WFME (World Federation for Medical Education), the FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research), the IMED (International Medical Education Directory) and AVICENNA Directories.
On a national level, the quality of Romanian higher education is ensured and accredited by ARACIS, the “Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education”, which replaced the NCAE (National Council of Academic Evaluation) in 2005. ARACIS is a full member of the ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education) and is registered with EQAR (European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education). More specifically, ARACIS is an autonomous public board whose main mission is the external evaluation of the quality of Romanian higher education, be this programmes, practical training and teaching methodologies. The Agency ensures that Romanian higher education institutions implement and are aligned with European Higher Education guidelines on quality.
What is more, in 2005, the Romanian Government created ACPART, the National Agency for Qualifications in Higher Education, a national authority for establishing and regularly updating the national framework for higher education qualifications and course track. As such, the National Qualifications Framework for Romanian Higher Education includes three qualification levels, namely: level 6 (Licenţa), level 7 (Masterat) and level 8 (Doctorat). Each level is linked to a number of descriptors, such as knowledge level, competencies and skills.
Another crucial factor that has been instrumental to boosting Romanian Universities’ fame globally, is the introduction of numerous English and French taught programmes. This fact not only makes it easier to align the quality of Romanian education so as to not be privy to global criteria assessment, but it has also made it easier for numerous international students to flock into the country to enjoy the quality of Romanian education. Thus, it is not surprising that numerous medical professionals trained in Romania are now working all over the world.
Assuredly, graduates of Romanian Medical Universities can practice in any country of the world, as all Romanian Medical University Degrees are recognized by local bodies of nearly every country in the world and are accrediting for the medical training they offer, most notably ACGME in the USA and GMC in the UK. To commence medical specialization in an EU country, graduates should simply register with the local body or respective Ministry of Health responsible for medical residency. For practicing in a non-EU country, medical graduates are required to go through the necessary assessment process, such as the USMLE examination in the US or the MCCEE examination in Canada.
