Universities award their best students with scholarships based on the cumulative scores calculated at the end of each regular semester, which applies to each subsequent one-year semester training fees. Since 2007, in all Georgian universities, the program named “President Scholarships for Bachelor’s Degree Students” has been operating. According to the programme any student has the opportunity to become a presidential scholar. The state budget is the source of financing of the program and the amount is paid on the basis of the relevant order of the Minister of Education and Science. Scholarships are given on the basis of academic and personal achievements like academic performance, publication of scientific papers and participation in scientific conferences.
The scholarships cover travel costs, accommodation, tuition fees, a living allowance at a set rate and other program related costs.
