  • SME offers the clinical study opportunity for medicine students in Europe to complete clinical rotations for up to three years in hospitals and medical facilities abroad.
  • SME assists with placing students in clinical rotations that are matched to their university’s curriculum modules in clinical settings in Ireland, Canada, USA, Australia, and the UK.
  • Students must apply directly to SME and provide:
    • Application documents consisting of location preferences (including department and duration of rotation) and their CV.
    • Official authorisation of their application from the coordinating Professor of their medicine programme to approve their documents.
  • Due to limitations with places, SME processes applications and offers placements with reference to order of when applications were submitted and the facility matching student preferences.

+ Is Online Study Offered?
  • Online learning is not accepted for any medicine or dentistry programmes as per Paragraph 3 of Order, No 1541 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Consequently, students who wish to attend a Ukrainian medical university must relocate and be present to attend classes there.
  • None of the world’s Medical Councils recognises online learning.
  • In the UK, the General Medical Council (GMC), requires the following for international medicine.
    • A minimum of 5,500 Clock Hours.
    • Clock hours consist only of Lectures, Tutorials (Seminars) and Clinical Training.
    • This does not include Distance Learning, Exams or Individual Work.
  • In the US, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG):
    • Approves medical schools that have a physical campus, and
    • Whose main educational operations are conducted in the country of registration.
  • When medical graduates apply for registration, all Medical Councils assess the evidence of studies, including online study:
    • For online studies performed during Covid-19, students should have a formal reason prepared, including evidence and exception documentation.
  • Online studying is not recognised by any Dental Council around the world.
  • All Dental Councils examine the proof of studies, which includes online learning when dentistry graduates apply for registration.:
    • For any online learning completed during Covid-19, students should have a full explanation ready, which will include evidence and exemption documentation, which they can submit upon request.

+ Admission to Bogomolets National Medical University
Applicants must provide the following information:
  1. An application which includes the following details: bio, education history and course for which you are applying.
  2. A copy of your secondary education results with subjects studied.
  3. Documents from your home country confirming that you are authorised to study in Ukraine.
  4. Two small photos of 4-5cm.
All documents need to be translated into Ukrainian to satisfy state directives.
+ Is Graduate Entry Offered?
  • In Ukraine, graduate entry is not permitted since local medical universities refuse to acknowledge foreign BSc degrees due to the major differences between the syllabus of the medicine and dentistry courses, and those of non-Ukrainian BSc degrees. Meaning modules studied in a BSc degree cannot be included on a Ukrainian medical or dental transcript.
