Educational loans come in different forms. It could be an educational interest-free loan, partial educational funding by a governmental or a non-governmental body, or an outright scholarship. Whatever might be the form, the purpose is the same, which is to completely remove or reduce the financial burden from the student during studies.

The study programme could be a college degree, a university degree or a postgraduate degree. Some countries have a stand-by section of the government that provides educational grants to deserving candidates, while in other countries, especially developing countries, this only exists in the state’s framework, but is hardly implemented.

There are also some special organisations that provide educational grants to students from developing and poor countries. These are usually in the form of charity and goodwill, designed to provide educational financing to bright students from poor families that could not have, otherwise, afforded the cost of education for the child. These usually come in the form of scholarships, which require the candidate to meet some set criteria, in order to prevent abusing the programme.

For foreign students studying in Ukraine, there are no educational grants to be expected from the Ukrainian government. However, students may apply for available international study grants from independent and international organisations. Deserving and successful students will be rewarded with the partial or full funding of their education.
