Postgraduate programmes are taught in English and Russian/Ukrainian. The duration of the postgraduate courses can last between 2-3 years.
The main objective of postgraduate training (clinical residency) is to allow the students to continue their education and for general practitioners to improve their skills for further certification. The medical faculties together with its teaching hospitals and other health organizations will provide the necessary physical and human resources to create a scholarly environment appropriate for the training of medical graduates. This ensures that postgraduate students can acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and values to become accomplished physicians and surgeons with the highest moral and ethical standards.
The individual’s training programme is based on a number of factors including their qualification characteristics, professional and position requirements, principles of realised perspective and professional aspirations. Detailed theoretical training is combined with learning practical skills, operative technique, and typical and complex operations.
Medical specialty training Ukraine is conducted under the supervision of medical universities. So, as a doctor who wishes to study in Ukraine for a master’s degree or specialisation training, you will need to enrol into a Ukrainian medical university certified for providing postgraduate degree and training. Training will consist of advanced lectures in cycles with intensive practical training under a supervisor who will usually hold the degree of a Professor, Associate Professor or Doctor of Science.
