+ The 6-Year Programme

The undergraduate dentistry programme is structured into pre-clinical and clinical years.

Pre-Clinical Years
  • For Years One and Two, students study on-campus at the Derby NVU dentistry campus.
  • Students complete preclinical modules on-campus with lectures and seminars using research laboratories, digital annexes and teaching spaces, and dentistry equipment.
Clinical Years
  • During the final three years, students complete clinical modules in dental practices and clinics to gain proficiency in dental procedures and surgeries.
  • Years Three to Five involve clinical rotations and lectures completed in dentistry facilities and practices.
  • Students will complete the majority of the studies in Georgia.
+The 4-Year Graduate Entry Programme
  • The NVU UK graduate entry programme offers students an accelerated pathway for a globally-recognised dentistry qualification.
  • Applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a science-related programme such as Biomedical Science and studies commence in Year Two of the 5-Year Undergraduate Dentistry Programme.
  • To apply, candidates submit analytical academic transcripts to assess their eligibility for the programme.
  • The graduate programme is a competitive course structured into one year of preclinical modules studied in the UK and three years of clinical modules studied in dentistry practices and clinics.
  • Graduates from the programme are highly qualified with comprehensive knowledge and dentistry skills developed in professional settings.
  • Students will complete the majority of the studies in Georgia.

+What are the On-Campus Study Options?
  • Students from both undergraduate and graduate programmes will study on-campus at the New Vision University (NVU) UK school later in 2021.
  • NVU has secured a 44,000 sq. ft. campus in Derby purpose-designed as a Medicine and Dentistry Institution with facilities including research and scientific laboratories, teaching and seminar spaces, and medicine and dentistry training equipment.
  • The campus will open to Dentistry students in the second half of 2021.
+ What Do the Lectures Entail?
  • Lectures give dentistry students the chance to get hands-on experience with dental equipment while also providing training on how to measure, read and evaluate results.
  • Lectures will also offer practical training and up-skilling in operating the machines.
  • Lectures are also taught in clinical modules e.g. dentistry procedures (root canals, fillings, crowns, root canals and managing comprehensive dental care).

Applicants must provide the following information:

  1. An application which includes the following details: bio, education history and course for which you are applying.
  2. A copy of your secondary education results with subjects studied.
  3. Documents from your home country confirming that you are authorised to study in Georgia.
  4. Two small photos of 4-5cm.
+Dental Council Requirements for Recognising Dentistry Degrees
  • Prior to application for the Overseas Registration Exam, international dental graduates must submit a record of their clinical experience and dental degree.
  • The General Dental Council (GDC) in the UK specifies a minimum of 1600 hours of clinical experience which:
  • ○ Comprise hours spent completing appropriate investigations and/or administering dental treatment
    ○ Do not comprise time spent observing dentists or assisting other dentists/dental students
  • The 1600 hours of clinical experience can be:
  • ○ From during the dental degree,
    ○ During post-qualification experience, or,
    ○ A combination of degree and post-qualification experience

+Is Online Study Offered?
  • Online studies (distance learning studies), are not currently recognised by any of the world’s Dental Councils.
  • Online study is not offered as a study option.
  • When dentistry graduates apply for registration, all Dental Councils assess the evidence of studies, including online study:
  • ○ Students are advised to have a formal explanation prepared, on request, including evidence and exception documentation for online studies completed during Covid-19.
