Online Studies Not Recognised Anymore

Due to the high number of inquiries we have received about online studies in medicine, we would like to clarify that distance learning studies are NOT recognised by any of the Medical Councils in the world.

In the UK, according to the GMC (General Medical Council), foreign medical degrees must be comprised of a minimum of 5,500 Clock Hours. Clock Hours are defined as the hours spent only in Lectures, Tutorials (Seminars) and Clinical Training and do not include hours of Distance Learning, Exams or Individual Work.

In the US, the ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) approves a medical school that has a physical campus and conducts its main educational operations in the country where it is registered.

All Medical Councils scrutinize the applications for registration of medical graduates, so we advise all graduates to be ready to provide explanations, including evidence upon request, of any studies that were offered online as exceptions apply only due to the pandemic.
