Structure of Routes
During the preclinical years, students will benefit from both live-streamed and recorded lectures offered by NVU’s British and Georgian professors. A question bank will help them to revise the theoretical sections of each subject taught in order to fully comprehend their lectures. Finally, a more personalized approach is offered when each lecturer spends time on a Q&A session.

During the clinical years, clinical rotations will be conducted in UK NHS Teaching Hospitals. Students will have exposure across a number of medical areas (see below) and consultants will finally assess them using OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) method.
  • Attending clinical ward rounds, presentations and teachings.
  • Learning patient disease management with consultants and senior training registrars.
  • Hands-on experience with patient disease clerking.
  • History-taking.
  • Hands-on clinical examination.
  • Attending errands related to patient disease management, pathology testing, taking bloods, and other investigations.
  • Attending and learning other ward procedures such as catheter change.
  • Attending outpatient clinics.
  • Learning to write discharge letters and admission notes.
  • Learning clinical skills and communication to patients and families.
  • Participation in on-call duties and learning on-call procedure with the assigned doctor.

NVU and SME have worked closely to expand the number of places for clinical rotations in UK NHS Teaching Hospitals for 2021, however, this offer is on a first come basis.
