Open Day in Birmingham successfully opens new series of events for 2016

The bustling city of Birmingham was the one to graciously host Study Medicine Europe’s first Open Day for this year on Saturday, 13th February 2016. Housed at the impressive Macdonald Burlington Hotel, we were pleased to welcome over 450 guests. Blending stunning Victorian architecture with a touch of contemporary elegance, the venue was filled with keen and ambitious future medical, dental and veterinary students and their parents and friends, who visited the kiosks of our partner universities and had the chance to collect all the information they needed regarding the courses offered in each one of them.

Student Recruitment Manager Anthony Karapanos greeted everyone, taking the opportunity to add that he was really excited to be there and meet such a lot of people honouring Study Medicine Europe with their presence. Dr. Anil Sachdev, one of our graduates from Romania currently employed as a doctor in a Birmingham hospital, was the first to open a line of informative speeches. He described his experience as a medical student in Romania and explained how he registered with the General Medical Council upon his relocation back to the UK, followed by helpful insights on how to find a job easily after graduation and his portrayal on his present life as a full time doctor.

Our current medical students in Bulgaria and Romania also played a significant part in the event. They each conveyed their own experiences and talked about every aspect of student life, including the courses, their daily routine and their impressions of the cities they are now residing in. Mr. Raju, father of one of our students who is now studying in Bulgaria, gave his feedback as a parent and managed to put the anxious parents’ mind at ease.

A brief, yet concise display of Study Medicine Europe’s company profile and services closed the series of presentations. Immediately after that, a student was called on the stage to draw the name of the winner who would take home a brand new tablet. Afsana Miah was the lucky guest who heard her name being announced and accepted the gift from Anthony’s hands with excitement.

Our guests had a chance to have their own questions answered by our panel of speakers during a very interesting Q & A session, with most of the enquiries concerning entry requirements, the courses taught and student financing. The Open Day ended with a networking event which brought students and parents together and gave them time to meet with our recruiters and team on a more personal basis.
