+ The 6-Year Medicine Programme
  • The University of Crete (UoC) 6-Year Medicine Programme is open to student applicants from all global regions and countries.
  • UoC graduates hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) qualification and programme intakes commence in September with lectures, seminars and tutorials, and laboratory work and clinical clerkships taught in English.
  • Students complete three study cycles over 12 semesters of study: for the first four years, Years 1-4, each semester is 14 weeks and for the final two years, Year 5 and Year 6, each semester is 16 weeks. The 12 semesters consist of: the Basic Cycle (Semesters 1-4); the Pre-clinical Cycle (Semesters 5-8); the Clinical Cycle (Semesters 9-12).
  • For the Basic Cycle, students study learning pillar courses in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, etc. that establish foundational knowledge for the next 8 semesters. For the Pre-clinical Cycle, students study bridging courses that link their basic cycle courses and the forthcoming clinical cycle courses.
  • For the Clinical Cycle, students complete two core clinical clerkships in Internal Medicine and Surgery for Semesters 9-10, then clinical clerkships in other medical specialities for Semesters 11-12.
  • Students undertake the majority of clinical modules on-campus at the University Hospital of Heraklion as well as clinical rotations in local health care centers and hospitals in Crete.
  • Clinical training is taught with the experienced faculty of UoC and working clinical professors in health centers, affiliated hospitals, and research institutes adjacent to the university campus.
  • The UoC undergraduate medicine programme is in accordance with European Medical School directives and international medical license.

Applicants must provide the following information:

  1. An application which includes the following details: bio, education history and course for which you are applying.
  2. A copy of your secondary education results with subjects studied.
  3. Personal statement or results of Cambridge Personal Style Questionnaire (CPSQ) Interview
  4. Documents from your home country confirming that you are authorised to study in Greece.
  5. Two small photos of 4-5cm.
  6. All documents need to be translated into Greek to satisfy state directives.
