False information about Student Loans in Bulgaria
SME would like to take this opportunity to inform prospective students that wish to study in Bulgaria to be very careful when receiving information from ‘third parties’ on student funding. We have been made aware that there are specific companies/individuals out there claiming that students can get loans from the second year and onward, as long as they only pay the tuition fees of the first year. Such information is very misleading and completely false as all Bulgarian banks have temporarily stopped approving loans. This has been the case since 2015.
We urge all students who are requesting loan/funding information from such companies, to get in touch with the Bulgarian banks directly if they wish to confirm that loans have been stopped. SME can also provide information of local UK organizations that provide loans and funding.
