SME Students Relocation to Trakia University Successfully Completed

This year’s group of SME’s 1st-year medical students successfully completed their relocation to the city of Stara Zagora in Bulgaria on the 15th of September where, in just a few days, they will start their classes at Trakia Medical University.

Study Medicine Europe’s local team has greeted the students at Sofia Airport and organized transfer to the hotel where the first briefing was held to explain the itinerary for the days ahead. During the briefing, students received their timetables along with their Student ID cards and Student Books. Furthermore, hotel accommodation for the first night was included on our package.

On the 18th of September, students were escorted to the University for the registration process and then they were assisted with the opening of their bank account. All students were given Bulgarian SIM cards and they received assistance in obtaining Internet access and acquiring all necessary documents for their EIHC and Bulgarian ID card.

A Networking Event was also organized by SME where students had the opportunity to socialize and also talk to various real estate agents who were invited to come and present any available apartments at a walking distance from the Medical Faculty. The local support team also escorted all students to view apartment, negotiated the rent fee with landlords, translated the rental agreements in English, explained to students how to pay their bills and generally full support was provided so that students could get in their new apartments straight away.

Students will also be escorted to the local police station in order to apply for a Bulgarian ID card and a dedicated person from SME’s local team will be assigned to each student in order to assist them with any issues that may arise during the adjustment period and throughout the 6-year study period.

We wish them all good luck with their studies!
